Tonge papers, 1868-1869.

Legal documents including summons, complaints, and testimony from cases presided over by Tonge in 1869 including cases for indebtedness, disturbing the peace, stolen property, assault, and selling liquor to Indians. Plaintiffs and defendants involved various pioneers including John Legler, Lt. James L. Hunt, Alex Levin, Jeremiah Kenney, William H. and Marie Sampson, George Wallace, Anna Charouleau, and Philip Drachman.

Justice of the Peace for Pima County; married Phylena Wallace and arrived in Tucson in 1862. Worked as a customs officer in Calabasas, worked at the Arivaca Ranch, Cerro Colorado Mine and for Solomon Warner in his store.
